Fake Traffic Violation Texts Hitting Michigan Residents
Scammers are now sending text messages claiming you have an unpaid traffic ticket, missed a court date, or have an outstanding violation. The message includes a link and threatens additional fines if you don’t act quickly.
This is a scam!
Red flags
Government agencies never send traffic citations by text.
Messages use urgent language like “FINAL NOTICE” or “IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED.”
The link looks suspicious or shortened (bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.).
What to do
Do NOT click the link.
Delete the message.
Report it to:
